Dick Sears: Weekly Commentary
Warning: Nothing of Substance Below

My bumper sticker this week should be:

I’d Rather Be Blogging.

That's because bloggers who have nothing
to say can just shut up. We stock market
commentators can't. Deadlines and custom
require us to turn on our hoses even when
there's no water.

Why have I nothing to say? Well, for starters,
it was a slow week on Wall Street.

At least, I think it was slow. The details are
fuzzy. For most of the week, I had no front
teeth. I couldn't eat. I could only drink. With
the benefit of hindsight, maybe I was too
liberal with the rum.

Now I have new teeth (no more lithping),
but there's another problem. Friday starts
the Ryder Cup on TV.  I can't do everything.
And don't forget, Friday's Times crossword
takes longer than other days. Oh, the difficult
choices we retirees must make!

Hey, here I am at the end of the column,
and it's still only Thursday. I'll count on a
quiet Friday and call this a wrap. Thanks
for stopping by.

Oops. It's now Friday morning. Mighty Q
has dropped a bomb. So much for quiet.
Let's hope it's a dud.
