Dick Sears Weekly Update: Skoal!

The GTI had a banner week, up 5.4%, with
26 stocks up and only 3 stocks down.

Of course it didn't measure up to the good
old days. Check out the Hall of Fame for
some really big weeks, but there you'll also
find some real stinkers. The market used to
be a whole lot more volatile. No complaints
here, though. I like being able to sleep nights.

The GTI's stars of the week were PWER
(+24%), MVIS (+17%), and EQIX (+13%).
It makes up for some of the beating they've
been taking this year.

One of the GTI's three stocks in the red was
its best performer this year, Corning (GLW).
On Monday, TheStreet.com said it was ripe
for the plucking and recommended it as a
target for shorts. Some plucking, down only
2.7%. But if you had to be short this week,
there were a lot of worse places to be. I'm
sure we all feel their pain.

I'm writing this from Stowe, Vermont, and
I hear a yodel in the distance. It must be
calling me to cocktails (and a chew). Skoal!

Makeup of the GTI:

The GTI companies are those "Telecosm
Technologies" in the Gilder Technology
Report whose stock is readily available to
investors. If a company is not traded on the
NYSE, AMEX, or NASDAQ National Market,
it is not in the GTI.
