Commentary:  2005 Year-End Special

In 2005 the GTI finished with a small gain, not
far from being unchanged. But at the individual
stock level, it had both large gains and large
losses, ranging from NetLogic Microsystems
(NETL) at +123% to LanOptics (LNOP) at - 64%.

The company-by-company returns for the fourth
quarter and the full year are set forth below.

The big heroes of the past year were the afore-
mentioned NETL and Corning (GLW), both of
which were added to the list during the year.

Well timed, GG. I guess we should be jumping
on your new picks. The recent additions, Ikanos
Communications (IKAN), Sigma Designs (SIGM),
and Finisar (FNSR), all got off to good starts,
though FNSR's proved short-lived.

The dregs of the list contains a number of
Gilderland favorites. 2005 was a rough year
for them. Let's hope 2006 is breakout time.
LNOP's 27% gain this week is a giant step
in the right direction.
