Elliott Werner: May 31, 1955 - December 7, 2004

We are sorry to have to announce that Elliott passed away peacefully early this morning after a stroke on November 13. Elliott was an impassioned student of the world who, in addition to his work as a technology guru, spent his life in intellectual pursuit. He was a leader in the NYC Junto, a monthly meeting focusing on libertarianism, Objectivism and investing. He edited the Junto newsletter, booked Junto speakers and maintained the Junto email list and discussion groups on the internet. His other passions included being an active avid member of Mensa, regularly found at Regional Gatherings (and always at the poker table) and Live Action Role-Playing Games which he also attended regularly.

His passing today is rather fitting as this year December 7 marks the beginning of the Festival of Lights, Chanukah, a day that celebrates the victory of free thought: of those who wished to study and learn over those who wished to keep others ignorant.

Elliott was an avid seeker in his life, always searching to understand the world around him and find ways to make it a better place for people to share ideas and ideals, particularly in the fields of government, education and law.

Services will be held Thursday, Dec. 9, at 11:15 A.M. (There is a chance this could change to Friday but that won't be known until sometime Wednesday.) They will be at Parkside Memorial Chapel in Rego Park, Queens. The address is 9860 Queens Boulevard Rego Park, NY 11374 Tel: (718) 588-7970

Elliott is scheduled to be interred directly after in Mount Hope Cemetery in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York.
