Atlantic City Noise
By Jeremy Lyter
4/4/2004
During my most recent visit to
Atlantic City, I noticed something peculiar. While traveling in
the elevator the sound of change hitting the bottom of a slot
machine was playing in the background. It would stop in-between
announcements and then continue once the announcements resumed.
This started my mental wheels spinning as I talked nickel slot
strategy with
an elderly woman from New Jersey. What misleading sounds
surround the
market?
1. Friends who have the latest tip - misinformation
2. Television disinformation
3. Newspapers hidden agendas / selective reporting
4. Reports?
Perhaps Dr. Brett could elaborate on the effectiveness of these
psychological operations used within the casinos. What sounds
might we not hear that novices would because of desensitization
to the market? What sounds might we hear that the general
public wouldn't? -- Jeremy Lyter
